In 2005, Money magazine named it No. 91 on its list of best places in America to live. In 2016, WalletHub ranks Vancouver the 39th best place to live for families in the US and Canada; and 14th among small cities (populations between 100,000-300,000). Vancouver shares its name with nearby Mount Rainier (), which is also a volcano but is much more active than Vancouver's dormant cone. The city also shares its name with another smaller mountain directly across the Columbia River from downtown Vancouver: East Peak (). This peak is part of a group called "The Brothers", which consists of three peaks: Mt. Baker () plus Mt St Helens () and Mt Adams (). All three are considered active volcanoes according to Smithsonian Institution geologist Chris Newhall .
