Everett is located at (47.944, −122.25). The city occupies a narrow strip of land between Port Gardner Bay and the southern slope of Mount Baker, with the downtown area straddling a low ridge between two ravines that descend from Maple Hill to the bay. The western terminus of State Route 522 is in Everett and provides an important connection to Marysville via Interstate 5; SR 522 also serves as part of Everett's main street for its first few blocks south from I-5 towards Downtown before turning east onto Broadway Avenue toward Mukilteo on Whidbey Island. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , including or 0.06% water., making it by far Washington's largest incorporated place by land area as well as Snohomish County's largest municipality in terms of physical size (the county itself being larger than any other county in Washington).
