Virginia Beach is well known for its wide array of outdoor recreational activities including beaches such as Oceanfront and Back Bay which are frequented by tourists from across Hampton Roads and beyond during summer months when temperatures can reach over . The area's warm subtropical climate brings beachgoers throughout much if not all seasons with an average high temperature near every month from late April until late October between 70–80 °F (21–27 °C).
