In 2019, it was ranked the best city to live in Texas and #2 nationally behind Austin, TX according to WalletHub's annual report on 2019's Best & Worst Cities To Live In America.The Woodlands is home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion (formerly known as Starwood Amphitheatre), a concert venue which hosts many popular musical acts from around the world each year during its Spring Concert Series tour stop at nearby Houston's Sam Houston Race Park or at other venues throughout Greater Houston such as Toyota Center or NRG Stadium; since 2003, this event has been held over Labor Day weekend annually. It is also home of several water parks including SplashTown Water Park (formerly known as Big Rivers Waterpark) and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor (which opened under that name on May 25th 2016).
