About Bedford

The city was named after John Bedford, who settled in the area in 1847. The community was incorporated on February 28, 1958. Bedford is located at (32.823248, -97.086245). This is about 12 miles (19 km) north of downtown Fort Worth and 15 miles south of downtown Dallas along Interstate 20 and State Highway 183/Interstate 35W respectively; it is also approximately 5 minutes from DFW Airport via I-20 or I-35W to State Highway 114/State Highway 183 North exit toward Hurst/Euless Exit #4A for a direct route into Bedford's central business district via Main Street or Texas 121 Loop Eastbound towards Uptown Dallas for an alternate route into the CBD as well as access to Downtown Fort Worth by way of Texas 114 Westbound through Arlington Heights onto Interstate 30 Westbound towards Downtown Fort Worth then exiting at University Drive which will lead you directly onto Houston St.
