The city is home to the National Cemetery of the United States Army and is one of two cities in Tennessee with major league sports teams—the Nashville Predators play hockey in Bridgestone Arena, and the Tennessee Titans play football at Nissan Stadium. The city has hosted several important events, including portions of the 1973 Southern Conference Basketball Tournament, which led to a famous victory by an underdog Virginia Commonwealth team over heavily favored Davidson College; as well as being selected for construction of their new stadium (Nissan Stadium) on September 29th 2017. In 2018 it was announced that Nashville would host its first professional sports all-star game when they were awarded a bid for Super Bowl LIII scheduled for February 2019. Nashville has been called "The New York City of Appalachia" because it shares many cultural similarities with New York City; both are home to numerous country music artists and radio stations while also having large metropolitan areas within them.
