According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , all of it land. It is drained by tributaries of the Susquehanna River and is part of North Pennsylvania Valley region. Its villages include East Pittston, Hinkletown (also in Exeter Township,) Pittston City (also in Wyoming County,) and West Pittston. As of the census[1] 2000, there were 3,821 people, 1,567 households and 1128 families residing in Greater Pittston's 2nd class city/township population-wise; with an average household size was 2.7 persons per household within that group.[2] The racial makeup was 96% White Non-Hispanic or Latino American citizens,[3][4][5] 0% African American or Black,[6][7], 0% Native Americans & Alaskan Natives[8], 4 % Asian Pacific Islanders & Hispanics from any race.[9].
