The borough was named after the Beaver River, which flows through it. Beavertown is located at (40.879069, -77.788863). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of , all of it land. The town sits on top of a hill that overlooks most other towns in Snyder County and can be seen from miles away as you approach Beavertown on Route 220 or Route 44/55 from any direction except for northbound traffic coming off Interstate 80 at Exit 18 (which is only visible when leaving Beavertown heading south towards Middleburg). As of the census of 2000, there were 993 people, 434 households and 275 families residing in the borough.
