The town lies on U.S Route 421 between Winston-Salem and Greensboro in central North Carolina; it is also near Interstate 40 which runs from Raleigh to Charlotte NC . Rural Hall's elevation above sea level ranges from approximately 900 feet along its eastern border with Kernersville up to 1120 feet along its western border with Walkertown NC . The highest point in Forsyth County can be found just outside Rural Hall at 1020 feet above sea level on Old US 421 north of the community known as "The Summit". This location was once called "Bald Mountain" but now goes by another name due to confusion over what county it actually resides within (Forsyth or Yadkin).
