About Village of Sag Harbor

It was the location of the first U.S. Post Office on Long Island, and it was a whaling port in New York State's early history when whaling ships from Sag Harbor visited ports around the world. The village is located on Gardiners Bay, which forms its harbor and main street (Sag Harbor Turnpike). It is surrounded by East Hampton to the north; Bridgehampton to the west; Shelter Island to its south across Long Wharf; and Noyack in Southampton to its east across Peconic Bay.
