The Village of Rockville Centre is located in the Town of Hempstead on Long Island. The village is bordered by North New Hyde Park and Garden City to the north, Woodmere to the east, Hewlett Bay Park and Inwood to the south, and Lynbrook (with a small portion bordering Baldwin) to west. It has two distinct areas: an older section known as Old Village or Downtown Rockville Centre (Downtown), which was incorporated as a village in 1917; and an area that developed later known as Southside or Southgate (Southgate). Rockville Centre can be reached from Manhattan via several routes including LIRR's Port Washington Branch train service at its namesake station on Broadway between Fulton Street/East Main Street & Merrick Avenue stations along with Nassau Inter-County Express bus service along Merrick Road/New York State Route 25A from either Valley Stream or Hicksville.
