About Brookhaven
The largest airport in the region is Long Island MacArthur Airport. Brookhaven is a town located on the South Shore of Long Island, in Suffolk County, New York. As of 2010 census records show that it had a population of 485,781 people. It was founded as an agricultural community and became known for shipbuilding at the end of the 19th century and into the 20th century; its proximity to New York City facilitated this boom time period as well as post-war expansion when many moved from Manhattan to settle here after World War II (1939–45).
