The city is ranked the sixth-best American city for business and leisure travel, according to Condé Nast Traveler's "Readers' Choice Awards" in 2011. The first documented European settlement in what would become Atlantic City was by a group of Swedish fishermen from Mölle, Sweden who were briefly stationed on Absecon Island (now Inlet) during the 1640s. The colony of New Sweden remained along the Delaware River until it was conquered by Dutch forces led by Governor Peter Stuyvesant in August 1655; however, both colonies were surrendered to England at that time.
