Silver Dollar City was founded by the Herschend family, who also own nearby theme parks Dollywood and Silver Dollar City's sister park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The park is named for its main street that resembles a typical 1880s-era town with shops and restaurants. It features amusement rides such as roller coasters and water slides; live entertainment shows; crafts demonstrations; games of chance like "Whac-A-Mole" (called "Whack A Mole"); historical reenactments of frontier life on the American frontier during an era known as the Victorian Age or Gilded Age (1870–1900); educational programs about pioneer life in America's past through hands-on activities such as candle making, blacksmithing, quilting lessons etc.; a variety show called "Frontier Follies"; nightly fireworks displays over Table Rock Lake at 9:30 p.m.
