About Kansas City

Kansas City, Missouri was incorporated as a town on June 1, 1850. The territory straddling the border between Missouri and Kansas at the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers was considered a good place to build settlements. The Antioch Christian Church, Dr. James Compton House (the oldest structure in Jackson County), Fort Osage National Historic Landmark are listed on the National Register of Historic Places; additionally several other properties are listed as National Historic Landmarks including Independence Hall Association Grounds (Old Town), Liberty Memorial Building Complex, Harry S Truman Home & Birthplace and White Haven Memorial Park Cemetery (where President Harry S Truman is buried).
