Oxford is a city in, and the county seat of, Lafayette County, Mississippi, United States. Founded in 1837, it was named after the British university city of Oxford.
As of the 2020 US Census, the population was 25,416;  Oxford is the home of the University of Mississippi, founded in 1848 and commonly known as "Ole Miss".


Oxford is the principal city of the Oxford Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Lafayette and Claiborne counties. The larger Jackson–Yazoo City Combined Statistical Area has a population (2016) of 536,045.
The mayor is Butch Lee.
