Roscommon is located at . The village is situated on the boundary between Higgins and Roscommon townships, with a small portion extending into Lake Township. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , all land. The South Branch of the Au Sable River flows through Roscommon from south to north. M-18 runs east–west through downtown; US 127 runs north–south along its western edge; and I-75 passes just west of town but does not have an interchange in Roscommon itself (the closest exit being Exit 60).
