Watertown is a sister city of Tōkai, Japan. Watertown (also known as Waterton) is a town in the Canadian province of Alberta. It was named after Waterton Lake, which was itself named for English naturalist and author Charles Waterton. The Town of Waterton comprises two municipal hamlets: Pincher Creek to the south and Cardston to the north; both are considered "suburbs" within this census division area that encompasses most of southern Alberta's foothills region between Calgary and Lethbridge. The population was 4,838 at the 2016 Census with an elevation ranging from 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) above sea level in some areas to 2,000 metres (6200 ft).The Town has its own police force along with other services including fire protection provided by Cardston County Fire Services who operate out of their station located on Highway 515 just outside Pincher Creek's town limits near Range Road 25 west approximately 15 kilometres or 9 miles from downtown Pincher Creek .
