Portland was named the best place to live in the U.S. for two years running by Money magazine in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Portland's climate is marked by warm, dry summers and cool, rainy winters that are often snowy at higher elevations above sea level; this climate is ideal for growing roses and other flowers with a high moisture requirement such as rhododendrons or camellias. The city has a Mediterranean climate on its western edge towards the coast which becomes more continental farther inland (especially east of Interstate 5).
