About Griffin
The city is home to the Griffin Synodical Female College Historic District. The district is roughly bounded by Broad, Clay, Church and 2nd Streets. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.Griffin has a council-manager form of government with a mayor and six City Council members elected at large for four year terms; elections are held every two years (odd numbered districts in one election cycle and even numbered districts in another).The current Mayor of Griffin is David L. Morris who took office July 1, 2017 after defeating incumbent Lee Darragh during the 2016 municipal elections on November 8th .
