About Village of Tequesta

The village is located in the northern part of Palm Beach County, approximately north of Miami. It is bordered by Lake Worth to the south and west, West Palm Beach to the southwest, and unincorporated Boca Raton to the east. The village's official boundaries include Lantana on its northeast side (separated from Tequesta by a canal), as well as small portions of unincorporated land between it and Jupiter Island on its southeast side. Tequesta was named after "Tequesta", an indigenous Native American people who occupied southeastern Florida at contact with Europeans; they were also known as "Jupiter People" or "People of Pease Creek".
