Miami-Dade County is the southernmost county in Florida. It is bounded on the west by the Gulf of Mexico, and on the north by Broward County. On April 1, 2012, its population was estimated to be 2,158,336 with a growth rate of 3.80% since 2010; it was ranked third among Florida counties (behind Palm Beach and Hillsborough) for percentage growth during that time period according to census estimates released in 2011.
