Santa Barbara is the second-largest city in California's Santa Barbara County and the county seat of Santa Barbara County. Situated on a south-facing section of coastline, the longest such section on the West Coast of North America, it is subject to a cool, rainy marine climate; its average January temperatures range from 54 °F (12 °C) to 68 °F (20°C), while summertime highs are usually around 90–95 °F (32–35°C). Rainfall is very heavy at times; rainfall amounts can vary from 15 inches (380 mm) in February 2006 to 5.5 inches or less than 2 cm during droughty summers. Snow does fall rarely: only five measurable accumulations were recorded between July 1882 and June 1974.[1] The most recent snowfall occurred December 27, 2018 when several flurries fell across town.[2] The National Weather Service reports that Ojai has an average annual rainfall of 29.
