About Portola Valley

Portola Valley is located at 37°35′31″N 122°12′13″W. It is on the south slope of the coastal Santa Cruz Mountains, which are also known as the Santa Cruz Range. According to the United States Census Bureau, Portola Valley has a total area of 8.1 square miles (21 km2), all land with no frontage on San Francisco Bay and Pacific Ocean; there are several creeks that flow year-round or intermittently in its vicinity: Arroyo Corte Madera del Presidio, Serra Creek and Pescadero Creek among them.[8] Portola Valley has a mild climate characterized by cool temperatures during summer afternoons/evenings and warm days during winter mornings/afternoons due to its proximity to San Francisco Bay (less than 10 mi / 16 km away). Average daytime highs range from 50–60 °F (10–16 °C) in January[9] while average nighttime lows range from 32–36 °F (0–2 °C).
