About Pasadena
Pasadena is also one of the primary cultural centers of the San Gabriel Valley. The city is known for hosting the annual Rose Bowl football game and Tournament of Roses Parade, which has been held since January 1, 1902.Pasadena was named after Pasadena Castle in Scotland by Jules Verne (1828–1905), a Scotsman who wrote novels based on his real-life adventures in Southern California. The name may also be derived from "El Paseo de la Reyna de Los Angeles" ("The Queen's Walk"), an 18th-century esplanade which ran along what is now South Pasadena Avenue; however this derivation may be folk etymology.
