The Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City is a World Heritage Site and was the most important trading centre of its time, second in Britain only to London. It was granted this status in 2004 by UNESCO as part of Liverpool – Maritime Mercantile City: Transatlantic Trade and Cultural Exchange (1995–2000). The site comprises six locations throughout the city including Albert Dock, William Brown Street, George's Dock and Mann Island. In 2007 it received £1 million from the European Regional Development Fund for regeneration projects which will be used to restore historic buildings on Mann Island. This is a list of notable people associated with University College Dublin (UCD), located in Dublin Ireland since 1854.
