About Dubai

Dubai is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. The country's official religion is Islam, and its official languages are Arabic and English. Dubai has attracted world attention through large construction projects and sports events, in particular for hosting the World Expo 2020. Dubai was once known for being a tolerant region with regard to social issues; however, recent developments have led to criticism of Dubai's international image as a tourist destination by human rights organizations such as Amnesty International (AI) over its treatment of migrant workers who comprise more than 90% of its workforce.
