About Tunis

It is one of the largest cities in North Africa and the Middle East. Tunis is a major economic center in the Maghreb region, with a growing financial sector and one of Tunisia's busiest ports. The Tunisian economy is very dependent on tourism but also exports raw materials such as phosphates, agricultural products (notably olive oil), textiles, clothing and footwear; it also has large phosphate deposits which are being developed by international companies like SOMOPhosphate SA. In addition to this there are more than twelve thousand factories working for export all over Tunisia mainly from Greater Tunis area: Bizerte-Sidi Bou Zid-Gafsa-Kasserine etc... The city has several important museums including Bardo National Museum (for Islamic art) , Dar Ben Abdallah (for antiquities), El Moudjahidin et la Medersa Soukra(For modern art). There are many public schools including Lycée Schahly which was founded by Farhat Hached .
