About Ksar Hellal

The town is located at 36°36′N, 10°20′E. It lies on the left bank of the Oued el Kebir river. The old city is surrounded by a wall and contains many mosques and palaces from different eras, including Dar Ben Abdallah (the house of Abdallah) built in 1792 by Mohamed Bey ben Ahmed Bey El Mekki; Dar Hussein Pasha (built in 1817); Sidi Bou Said Mosque; Sidi Ali Agha Mosque with its minaret dating to 1630-1640 AD; Mohammedia Medersa founded in 1594 AD during the reign of Murad III as well as several other monuments such as Bab Al Amdoun gate which was built around 1450 AD under order from King Abu al-Mawahib Abou Hafs Bani Makhzum II.
