The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) is the main stock exchange of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1887 as the Colombo Stock Exchange Corporation, and became a subsidiary of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in 1957. In 1973 it was renamed to its present name, and became an independent corporation under the Ministry of Finance & Planning with effect from 1 January 1974. The CSE is located at No 10 Sir Chittampalam A Gardiner Mawatha (formerly known as Church Street), Pettah, Colombo 7 near Independence Square.
