About Malaga

The Museo Picasso Málaga is one of the most important museums in Spain. The city also has a large number of Roman Catholic churches, including La Macarena (one of the largest in Andalusia), as well as many Protestant and other Christian denominations. There are several public schools and universities, including the University of Málaga (founded in 1989) with more than 60 years' tradition educating students from all over Spain and Europe. Málaga was named by UNESCO as "Cultural Capital" for 2018, during its annual meeting on October 8th 2017; it will share this title with San Sebastián for 2019-2020. It is considered to be one of only three cities awarded this honour since 2004 when it was first given to Ámsterdam.[5] This distinction recognises that both cities have an outstanding universal value based on their cultural influence throughout history.
