Batangas City is located on the southeastern shores of Laguna de Bay, south of Manila. It is bounded to the north by Nasugbu and Lian towns; to the east by Taal Lake; to the west by Calaca and Ibaan towns; and in between lies Mount Maculot. The city has a total land area of . The city's topography consists mostly of rolling hills with narrow plains along its coastal areas. Its highest elevation is at Mt. Maculot which stands above sea level while its lowest elevation at about below sea level occurs at Sitio Baybayin in Barangay San Isidro where Batangas River empties into Taal Lake through Manggahan Floodway (also known as "Sapangan Channel").
