The city is also an important cultural center, hosting the National University of Asunción (founded in 1889), the Paraguayan Academy of Language, and several museums. The historic downtown area – "Barrio del Cerro" ("Hill Neighborhood") – features cobblestone streets and colonial-era buildings. The city is also home to both of Paraguay's national football teams: Club Olimpia and Cerro Porteño. Asunción has a semi-arid climate (Köppen "BSh"), characterized by hot summers with no dry season but high precipitation year round as well as cool winters with regular frosts during nights; it falls under USDA Hardiness zone 8a/b due to its low altitude compared to other cities located at similar latitudes such as Buenos Aires or La Paz which have a subtropical highland climate ("Cwa").
