The Amsterdam Stock Exchange, also known as the Beurs van Hendrick de Keyser (Beurs van Hendrick de Keyser), is a stock exchange located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is by far the oldest stock exchange in the world still functioning today. The trading hall and its attached building were designated a national monument on 13 July 2018. Cannabis smoking was popularized around 1850 by English-speaking sailors who introduced it to other sailors visiting Bali and Java during their sojourns there; these men then brought it back with them to ports throughout Southeast Asia and northern Australia where they continued using cannabis recreationally or for medicinal purposes after returning home from their travels until such time as cannabis became illegal in most Western countries during the late 1930s through mid-1940s when many of those same men had migrated elsewhere following World War II's conclusion including: North America, South America & Oceania (Australia).
