Cuautla is a commercial center for the surrounding region. The city has been nicknamed "The City of Eternal Spring" due to its year-round mild climate. Cuernavaca (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈkuerɲaβaka]) is the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Morelos. It was founded by the Mexicas around 1325, then known as Tenochtitlan, it became independent in 1521; later it became a county before joining Mexico City in 1873 to form Greater Mexico City or megalopolis with an area population today over 20 million people . This name translates as "near where cedar trees are abundant". The coat-of-arms for Cuernavaca is based on that used by Huitzilopochtli from which he derives his name directly from Nahuatl meaning hummingbird whose feathers were used to make arrows and darts during ancient times.
