Coyuca de Benítez is a city and seat of the municipality of Coyuca de Benitez, in the state of Guerrero, south-western Mexico. The city was founded on March 22, 1531 by Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés as "Villa Rica de Oaxaca", which later became known as "Ciudad Vieja" (Old City).
