Coyuca de Catalán is a city and seat of the municipality of Coyuca de Catalán, in the state of Guerrero, south-western Mexico.Formerly called Coyuca, the town was named Coyuca de Catalán in honour of Nicolás Catalán, son of Antonia Nava de Catalán and her husband Nicolás Catalán, who lost his life there during an action in the Mexican War of Independence.


Coyuca de Benítez is a city and seat of the municipality of Coyuca de Benitez, in the state of Guerrero, south-western Mexico.
The city was founded on March 22, 1531 by Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés as "Villa Rica de Oaxaca", which later became known as "Ciudad Vieja" (Old City). The modern name honors Nicolás Bravo who fought for Mexican independence from Spain. It is located at 18°53'N 99°33'W﻿ / ﻿18.883°N 99.5508333°W﻿ / 18.
