The county was administered by Dublin County Council from the 1880s until its abolition in 1994, and is now part of the administrative counties of Fingal (northside) and South Dublin (southside). The River Dodder or Abhainn na Déirce ("river of oak trees") is a river in Ireland. It rises at Mullaghareirk Mountain on the western side of Tallaght Hill, near Saggart village. The Dodder flows through Rathfarnham to meet the River Liffey at Portobello Bridge. Its length is approximately 25 km (15 mi), including its longest tributary which brings it down to 22 km long; this makes it one third longer than both parent rivers combined.
