About Dehradun

Dehradun is home to a number of colleges and universities. The Doon School, India's premier public school was founded here in 1935 by Satish Ranjan Das, an Indian Civil Service officer who later became the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. It has produced many notable alumni including former Prime Ministers Rajiv Gandhi and H.D Deve Gowda; President Pranab Mukherjee; Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari; Governors Jagdish Mukhi (Punjab), Keshari Nath Tripathi (West Bengal) and M L Khattar (Haryana); cricketers Bishan Singh Bedi, Chetan Chauhan and Harbhajan Singh among others as well as actors Saif Ali Khan, Rishi Kapoor , Rahul Khanna , Arjun Rampal .
