About Hosur
The city is known for its silk sarees and handloom industry. It also has a major railway junction on the Bangalore-Chennai line, with frequent trains to Chennai, Bengaluru and other cities. Hosur was formerly called as Chitrapuram (City of Victory). The name Hosur is derived from Hosa Ur or Hosa Ooru which means "New Village" in Tamil language.
