The Chambal River flows through Kota and meets Yamuna River near Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The climate in this region is generally dry and characterized by a hot summer, scanty rainfall, a cool season (from November to February) followed by winter (February–April). Summers are extremely hot with temperatures rising well above 40 °C in May and June; however it seldom crosses 45 °C except some years when temperature may reach 47-48 degrees Celsius due to western disturbances or local factors like dust storms etc.. Winters are pleasant though cold waves from northern plains sometimes cause daytime temperatures to dip during January & February but they rarely last for more than 2 days at a stretch. Average annual rainfall is about 70 cm which mainly falls from July to September.
