About Bikaner

The city is known for its distinctive architecture, rich culture and heritage. Bikaner is located on the southern edge of the Thar Desert. It lies in northwest Rajasthan near the border with Pakistan and adjacent to Punjab (Pakistan). Bikaner district borders Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Barmer districts of Rajasthan state; Jalandhar district of Punjab state; Churu District of north-western Haryana state; Ganganagar District in south eastern corner Himachal Pradesh State ; Nagaur District Of North Western Ranns Of India And Hanumangarh Distric In Northern Part Of The State . The total area covered by Bikaner municipal council is 86 km² (33 sq mi) while that covered by entire urban region comprising Nokha tehsil along with adjoining areas under it comes to be 1,931 km² (750 sq mi). The Indira Gandhi Canal irrigates most parts including Beawar town which was earlier part of erstwhile princely state before independence.
