About Ajmer

According to the 2011 census, Ajmer has a population of 577,048 and the urban agglomeration population is 635,957. According to one legend it was founded by a Chahamana king named "Aja" who ruled in the 7th century CE. The name "Ajmer" comes from its variant spelling 'Ajeya-Meru' (अजेय मेरु).
