Parbhani has a tropical climate. The summers are hot and dry, lasting from March to June; the monsoon season is from July to October; winters are cool and foggy, lasting November through February. The city of Parbhani was founded by Prabhavati Devi in 13th century AD at the site of present-day Parbhani fort (Prabhavatinagar). It was ruled by many dynasties such as Yadava dynasty (12th century), Delhi Sultanate (13th–14th centuries), Bahamani Sultanate(1465–1518) etc., until it became part of Nizam State during Mughal Empire in 1601 AD.
