Khamgaon has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and cool winters. Summers last from March to June when the average high temperature is around 40 °C (104 °F) and temperatures above 45 °C (113 °F) are not uncommon. The monsoon lasts from July to October, during which time there is frequent heavy rainfalls that often cause flooding in the city streets. Winter starts in November, lasting until February; December and January being the coldest months with low temperatures around 15–18 degrees Celsius at night but still remaining dry for most of this period due to western disturbances bringing rains only occasionally towards end of December or early January .
