About Damoh
It is the administrative headquarters of Damoh district. Damoh was a part of the Vindhya Kingdom until it was conquered by Chandela ruler Yashovarman in 10th century CE. The city remained under their rule until 13th century when it came under Delhi Sultanate. After disintegration of Delhi Sultanate, several local rulers like Datia, Gond and Tomar Rajputs ruled this area till 16th century when Mughal emperor Akbar annexed most parts of central India including Damoh to his empire in 1575 CE.[1] During British rule, Damoh became a cantonment town after 1817.
