About Bijapur

Bijapur district is located in the southern part of Chhattisgarh. It borders with Dantewada and Narayanpur districts to the north, Kanker district to the east, Telangana state (Adilabad District) to south and Karnataka state (Koppal District) on its west side. The area of Bijapur is 3,918 km² which makes it one of smallest districts in Chhattisgarh by area. The city Bijapur has an average elevation of 578 meters above sea level.[1] The climate here varies considerably due to its location near a major geographical barrier; i.e., it lies between two mountain ranges: Eastern Ghats and Western Ghats/Satpura Ranges at about 400–500 m above mean sea level respectively.[2] This results into three types climatic conditions viz.
