About Annigeri

It is the birthplace of noted Kannada poet and playwright, Adikavi Pampa. It was also the capital of Chalukya dynasty in 12th century CE. The town has a population of approximately 50,000 people with an area covering around 30 square kilometers (12 sq mi). Annigeri is located on National Highway 4 between Hubli and Gadag cities in Karnataka state. The nearest airport to Annigeri is at Hubli which has daily flights from Bangalore as well as Mumbai airports.[1] The nearest railway station to Annigeri is Dharwad which lies about 15 km away from it.[2] There are frequent buses available for travel within Karnataka state and neighboring states like Goa, Maharashtra etc., while there are few private bus services available for travel outside Karnataka such as Bangalore or Mumbai.
