The city is divided into five tehsils: Jind, Narwana, Bawani Khera, Safidon and Tohana. Males constitute 52%(738000)of total population while females 48%(692000)and children below 6 years are around 9%.Hisar has an average literacy rate which increased from 73%to 86%,the male literacy stands at 87%,while female literacy rate was 81%.
