About Jagdalpur
Jagdalpur is located at 21.28°N 81.05°E / 21.28; 81.05, on the banks of river Jagdai and surrounded by hills in south-east direction from where it gets its name as "Jagadalpur" which means a city on the hill top or mountain top (jagad=world/mountain + alapur=top). The city has an average elevation of 548 meters (1791 feet). The town was founded by Bhima I, one of the Gond kings who ruled over this region during 16th century CE and named after him as Bhimgarh or Bheemgarh(भीम गाड्या) .
