Chandigarh is internationally known for its architectural heritage, and some of the most modern public buildings in the country are located here. The city has retained much of its natural beauty with green parks and wide roads. Chandigarh is also famous for Rock Garden, a sculpture park in Sector 16–17 that includes works by renowned artists like Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. The name "Chandigarh" was derived from the ancient temple called Chandi Mandir (), which was built by King Chanda (ruler) of Punjab around 510 CE at Hundru near Mohali; this temple served as an inspiration to Guru Gobind Singh who later constructed Takht Sri Patna Sahib just outside Patiala city in Bihar state where he had his headquarters during life time . This Temple still exists at village Khudian close to Patran on Sivalik Hills now but it lies neglected due to lack of maintenance or caretakers .
